HENK ERKELENS 08-04-1937 – 08-09-2011

'I intend to show the beauty of that which is transitory, since this is what comes closest to eternity. In an eternal cycle, the transitory always contains the germ of a new beginning. Sand and clay have come into being after countless centuries, are millions of year old. Clay is the last form, there’ll be nothing after it. And clay has always been the vehicle of people’s expression. It preserves the fingerprints of people living in a distant past. Clay is the symbol of things past. Yet clay itself is not transitory, clay immortalizes.'
